Why is Vicenzaoro the unmissable European jewelry event?

From September 4th to 8th, just a few dozen kilometers from Venice, the heart of Vicenza once again pulsed to the rhythm of jewelry. Its biannual fair, Vicenzaoro, gathered around 1300 exhibitors representing the entire value chain of the industry. Over 900 international buyers as well as journalists from around the world were in attendance. Here are three reasons why this fair is a must for professionals and lovers of jewelry.

Jewelry, jewelry, and more jewelry, from costume to high-end Where does one's gaze land upon entering the vast halls of Vicenzaoro? Where to start? Icon and its international houses, Roberto Coin, Damiani, Pasquale Bruni, FOPE, Crivelli, Schreiner Fine Jewellery? The Look area with its contemporary or emerging brands? The hall dedicated to gems, precious stones, corals and pearls? The antique watches and jewelry of VO Vintage? Or the new central hall, inaugurated for this edition, which now hosts the T-Gold fair where one can discover the entirety of the jewelry supply chain, from finished or semi-finished products to production solutions, through technological innovation and business services in the specific field of gold work? With some 1300 exhibitors representing all segments of the jewelry industry, five days are not enough to fully explore the exceptional wealth offered by this international event organized by the Italian Exhibition Group (IEG). Especially since the fair has just strengthened its infrastructure with the inauguration of the new Hall 2, a sprawling 23,000 square meters spread over two floors, which in the words of the organizer becomes "the new home of the gold and jewelry industry". A major investment, initiated in 2024 and inaugurated to the applause of professionals present on the first day of Vicenzaoro, after a proper blessing of the premises... by a priest. /public-objects/ad345a0c-7d56-4f5c-9d55-d3b6c5fc2861-66012398-c845-436c-afac-08cdd1e9c1a1-Yoko%20London%20%C3%82%C2%A9%20GEM-T%20Magazine.webp Image sélectionnée All the cream of the industry gathered in one place to share, envision the future, and open up perspectives If Vicenzaoro stands out for its scale in terms of the number of exhibitors and visitors, the cultural and educational program created by the organization is well worth the trip. Trends are discussed, the use of AI in the industry is explored, debates are held about new consumption and distribution models, as well as discussions about gemology and sustainability. These are all issues that cross the constantly evolving jewelry industry. "The value of Vicenzaoro lies in its ability to connect business, content, and the strategic vision of the sector," emphasizes Matteo Farsura, Global Exhibition Manager Jewellery & Fashion at IEG. "A true knowledge hub that, thanks to the contribution of the most recognized players in our industry, provides the knowledge, analyses and insights necessary to support the competitive growth of companies on international markets." For two decades, Vicenzaoro has notably presented the Trendbook publication, which anticipates major luxury trends for the next 18 months. The world premiere presentation of the Jewellery Trendbook 2028+, carried out by Paola De Luca, once again opened up very interesting perspectives on the evolution of luxury and consumer behavior in light of geopolitical, economic, social, cultural, and technological changes. Another major event of this September 2026 edition was the annual congress of the CIBJO (World Jewellery Confederation), which for its 100th edition, was held within the confines of Vicenzaoro. Over 400 delegates representing the main professional associations and the largest companies in the sector addressed issues of international standardization, sustainability, corporate responsibility and regulatory changes. The update of the Blue Books—global reference texts on international standards applicable to diamonds, colored stones, pearls, gemological laboratories, precious metals, coral, and responsible sourcing—was also on the agenda. "Jewelry is going through a complex period. We live in a world of impermanence and we must be ready to face what we are not able to predict," stated Cyrille Vigneron, chairman Culture & Philantropy at Cartier, at the opening of this congress rich in exchanges. A Hub for Discovering Gems and Identifying Trends Wandering the aisles of Vicenzaoro also provides an opportunity to spot trends and discover what may become a sensation in the coming months. Maxi earrings are making a comeback, and transformable jewelry continues to make its mark with necklaces that can be converted into brooches, earrings and bracelets, and worn in multiple ways. The mix & match trend is at its peak, with new collections encouraging customers to collect pieces in different versions, to better combine them. Pearls are being paired with precious stones in all sizes and a multitude of colors. Silver jewelry is making an interesting breakthrough, while gold continues to reveal itself with surface treatments—brushed, engraved, polished, braided—that give the jewelry its unique personality. As for colored stones, unsurprisingly, they are everywhere. We even observed a few bi-colored stones, like tourmalines, and even tri-colored ones. The realm of possibilities is almost infinite. These are trends to watch closely in the coming months.
