01 - ALINA ABEGG SUGAR CRUSH The Berlin-based Swiss-German designer imagines a world inspired by childhood memories, where gemstones metamorphose into colorful candies and soap bubbles. Characteristic of her feelgood universe, Candy Girl riffs on the candy necklaces we all wore back in the 90s, reinvented by Abegg using gems in juicy shades threaded on gold chains. The dolphin rings, starfish and soap bubbles in the Soap Opera collection introduce a bolder, though no less playful, dimension. And don’t be fooled by all the quirkiness! Alina Abegg balances colors, volumes and toptier execution to perfection. Her great-grandfather, Georges Gallon, was a jeweler in Orléans in the 1920s, and Laura has built this family history into her own jewelry business. Her rediscovery of a platinum, diamond and sapphire bracelet that her ancestor made in 1925 would play a decisive role in shaping her trajectory, becoming the foundation for her Dynasty collection. Handcrafted in France from gold, the thirteen pieces reprise hallmarks of the Art Deco style in their architectural lines, droplet motifs and color contrasts, without ever lapsing into “modern vintage”. Since 2011, the Danish designer has crafted jewelry which, beneath its minimalist appearance, is rich in significance. Her premise has always been to create jewelry she would want for herself: no-fuss pieces imagined as an extension of the wearer’s personality. Bille Brahe takes the archetypes of classical jewelry, such as diamonds and pearls, and gives them the subtle twist that makes them unmistakably hers. Her letter jewelry is equally eloquent.
