Sarah Mugnier describes herself as an éditrice. A term borrowed from the world of high-end furnishing, it means she is behind the design and manufacture of the objects and jewelry she proposes. After gaining experience with fine watch and jewelry houses in Switzerland, the Geneva-born entrepreneur trained as a gemmologist at the Gemological Institute of America in New York, then consolidated her expertise in art and precious stones over several years working for a dealer in the Swiss city. Her heart then took her to Istanbul where for five years she honed her communication skills alongside a jewelry house, while bringing up her young son — until the global pandemic brought them back to Geneva. This would be the jolt that unleashed her creative energy and inspired her to start her own brand. She found a townhouse in the city, but this was more than a simple move. Sarah Mugnier fell in love with the very essence of a building whose architecture coincides perfectly with her creative vision, and which she has transformed into a cabinet of wonders. She commissioned an artist to fill two floors with colorful frescoes that bring the outside in, depicting trees, flowers, birds and jewels: some that exist, others yet to be created. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5VvIYOwIT3w While the origins of her brand are contained within these walls, the seeds were sown in multicultural Istanbul with its centuries of jewelry tradition, while the entrepreneurial drive instilled by New York helped them grow. It’s here, in her home-turned-showroom, that Sarah Mugnier’s clients place their orders for bespoke designs or discover collections made in very limited series. “I want to share this world, spread some joy and a creative vision. This intimacy, this free spirit creates a different type of relationship. I like to reach out, meet people.” Unsurprisingly, one of her five collections is reserved for collaborations. The latest to date is with interior designer Vincent Darré. Sarah Mugnier’s creations are shaped by a deep-rooted attachment to traditional artisanal techniques and a passion for the Renaissance, while transformable rings and necklaces explore a dual nature. Each piece is handcrafted and personalization is strongly encouraged, at accessible prices.
