Mark Your Calendars: "Stone Reveries: Poetry and Minerals by Roger Caillois"
From the great French writer of the 20th century, Roger Caillois, we know his sociological research, essays on the theme of celebration, and his works on dreams and the imagination.
He was also known for his reflections on the complex forms of the mineral world, being an insatiable collector of rare minerals from around the globe. The School of Jewelry Arts, in partnership with the National Museum of Natural History (MNHN) in Paris, presents a major retrospective dedicated to Roger Caillois' collection, offering a unique approach that intertwines science and poetry. /public-objects/6751746d-e1ba-42e7-8706-513953d842f8-9cd6aaba-3cd7-4e2d-b610-d6cc87acaa86-c3c95aa6-7054-4153-816a-d04a2b244b8f_1920x1080.webp Image sélectionnée Nearly 200 minerals collected by the writer between 1952 and 1978 converse with his emblematic texts, many of which are exhibited for the first time. Referred to as "crossroad objects" or "fairy objects" as he liked to call them, the minerals are revealed in the light of poetry. Miniature cosmic landscapes, artistic abstractions, unintentional canvases of senseless beauty... In the power of nature, in the enigmatic patterns of the stones, or in their variegated colors, the writer drew parallels with human experience. A reflection that, subtly, will accompany visitors through this exhibition to be discovered at the National Museum of Natural History, from November 6, 2025, to March 29, 2026.
