HIGH JEWELRY - Mikimoto, Pearl and Cosmos
With L'éclat, Mikimoto starts from the material that founded it, the cultured pearl, born from the invention of Kokichi Mikimoto in 1893, and projects it on the scale of the sky.
The entire collection is based on this premise: treating the iridescence of the pearl as a source of light, and constructing rays, trajectories, and constellations of diamonds around it. The necklace The Original Radiance leads the dance. South Sea white pearls and Akoya pearls are strung in rows, leading to a heart bursting with rays of diamonds of various sizes and finely chiseled mother-of-pearl, one of the most discreet gestures of the house, which sculpts the very material from which the pearl is born. Around it, a long necklace composed of several rows, a ring, and small brooches in the shape of shooting stars, to be worn alone or grouped like a night sky resting on the shoulder. Color, rare in Mikimoto's high jewelry, makes a notable entrance here. The Solar Radiance unfolds a breastplate of tightly graded Akoya, punctuated by tourmalines, emeralds and sapphires, whose deep greens and blues contrast with the whiteness of the pearls; the matching earrings repeat the cascading motif. The Eternal Radiance returns to black and white, with a necklace where the design of the pearl contours intertwines with diamonds of various sizes. Two pieces go even further. The headpiece The Stellar Radiance weaves a net of Akoya pearls and South Sea pearls into a starry mesh, which fits the skull before falling into long beaded fringes. Finally, the shoulder brooch The Majestic Radiance radiates around an aquamarine with icy transparency, a fire of tourmalines, tanzanites and diamonds, extended by pendants that unfold along the arm.
