Force 10, 60 Years and Far from Tame

It all starts with a marine cable and a shackle. Too simple to be true? Not at all, the simplest ideas are often the most brilliant. A great sailing enthusiast, Fred Samuel passed on his passion to his sons, particularly to his eldest, Henri, who in 1966 created a bracelet — a gift for his wife — from a two-rivet marine cable. The result? A piece of jewelry that resembled nothing of what was being offered in the jewelry industry at the time. From this raw, almost utilitarian idea, a signature was born, that of Fred. Sixty years later, the house celebrates its icon with 17 high jewelry creations. In its bold XL version, the fully paved shackle is surrounded by interchangeable cables for a necklace that is nothing short of precious in either white or yellow gold. With the Hero Cut piece, a diamond cut that is exclusive to Fred, the house injects its personal touch. Thirty-six facets, a silhouette that oscillates between a sail or a shield, here the diamond is indeed a stone, but one laden with symbols and messages. And then there is Pompon, for an expression of Force 10 that completely changes the register. The diamond-paved shackle becomes the center of a charm that moves and lives with every motion. The sautoir and the strands of the pompon are adorned with bars set with brilliant-cut diamonds.
