A sculptor as much as a jeweler, Jean Dinh Van spent a lifetime in pursuit of original, fundamental, radically modern forms.
Jean Dinh Van trained as an apprentice at Cartier in the early 1950s, but was inspired to follow his own path, deconstructing the conventions of jewelry and setting up his own brand in 1965. A careful observer of street life and his surroundings, he made everyday objects the starting point for jewelry that was designed to be worn anywhere, everywhere, every day. Launched in the seventies, the Menottes dinh van, Serrure and Cube Diamant collections were instant icons, enjoyed the world over thanks to the brand’s many stores, including the Geneva boutique, one of the first to open outside France, in the 1980s. The present-day boutique, on Rue Neuve du Molard, recently celebrated its 20th anniversary and, after several months of renovation, will reopen in November with the brand’s new retail design.
