Diamonds Blossoming in Gold

The first piece plays on the trompe-l’œil effect. On both the domed ring and the circular openwork pendant of the new set, tiny white diamonds are set flush with the gold in recessed settings that form a series of symbols: the circle evokes eternity, the triangle balance, the square stability, the teardrop transformation, the star brings good luck and the eye expresses wisdom. The flush-set technique, so dear to the house, conceals the prongs: the stone blends into the metal, and the motif appears as if imprinted. A ring, earrings, a pendant suspended by two gold threads and, finally, a bracelet: each creation incorporates this symbolic vocabulary on a small scale, to be worn alone or as part of a set that can be mixed and matched. The second chapter shifts in scale. High jewellery features chains in the form of necklaces, bracelets and long earrings, with several links cascading around the face. Semi-rigid in nature, this precious chain is designed to mimic the drape of fabric. On the necklace, the top of the links remain rounded to create volume, whilst the underside lies flat against the skin; the links—alternately set and unset—become more prominent towards the front before fading further at the nape of the neck. This extends right down to the clasps, which blend seamlessly into the succession of links so as not to disrupt the line of each piece.
